Our friends from New Ravers On The Block just released their latest mixtape called “C-Ch-Cha”. Tracks from Harvard Bass, Major Lazer, Nasa, Pony Pony …. some of those tracks are NROTB own remix and they’re really good.

The people who follow me on Twitter already knew that I was working on a “special project” and here it is. A tribute to Michael Jackson Mixtape called “On est tous des Jackson”(we all are Jacksons) where I reinvented 5 of his classics.

I kept the original beats to keep most of the flavor of the tracks but the subject and lyrics are different while keeping the original mood.

Michael Jackson was the biggest musical icon and my main influence so this Mixtape is my way to express that. Hope you’ll enjoy it as much as I did doing it.

I started getting interest in House music a couple of time ago so the last time I spoke with my good friend Tekilatex over ichat, I ask him some questions about his new label, Sound Pellegrino. Halfway between minimal and banging electro the sound of Sound Pellegrino is a new breed of groovy and refreshing House music. Listening to it I can see some elements from Baile funk to bassline.

Every release is different but comes all from artists at the forefront of their scene that keeps growing; from british like Zombie Disco Squad and buenos Aires french expat Douster to californian like Harvard Bass and finland’s Rennaissance Man.

If you’re a House music fan, go check Sound Pellegrino. It may become one of the most influencial House label in a couple of years….

I remember back in the early ’90s I was really into NY rap and all the rappers were some kind of god to me. When he dropped “It was written” and “Illmatic”, Nas was one of my favorite rapper(like almost everybody). Now the wonderful internets are bringing back even older material…Nas first demo tape from when he was 18. Enjoy!

“J’avais 5 ans dans mon suit de Michael Jackson….” Je ne serais pas qui je suis s’il n’avait pas été…RIP.

EDIT: J’oubliais que je voulais vous faire partager un mix Michael Jackson que Dj Ayres avait fait l’an dernier et que je viens de retrouver sur le site de Fader. Toutes les tracks sont mixées chronologiquement.

Sérieusement je pourrais ne plus rien écrire, car “wow!” ça résume très bien le feeling qu’on a eu à faire le show à Québec. Habituellement je suis pas vraiment nerveux avant de faire un show que ce soit devant 100 ou 5000 personnes. Mais de jouer devant une foule de 150 000 à 200 000 personnes…c’est complètement fou!

C’était aussi notre 1ère St-Jean à Québec et je dois avouer que le monde sont sur le party pas mal, héhé. Étrangement. le gars le plus saoul de tout le backstage c’était Richard Séguin….les vieux aussi font le party à la St-Jean!

Wow! Vendredi dernier on a fait le “concert improvisé” ou si vous préférez, concert illégal sur la rue St-Laurent. On a profitez du fait que la rue était fermée pour la vente trottoir et on est débarqué coin St-Laurent et Napoléon en camion/stage. Voici un petit vidéo que j’ai trouvé sur youtube gracieuseté de Jay St-Louis.
